Dayali Beijing Roast Duck

Had a visit to Dayali for some Peking Duck. We tried the $599 set dinner with a group of 10. They had a few interesting dishes which deserves bonus points. The taste of the dishes was mostly good. The Peking Duck was done in a traditional format and the wrapping and sides were done well. However, the steamed fish and lobster was a bit of a disappointment as it wasn't very fresh, although it still tasted good. Servers were friendly but they seemed to be a bit under staffed which caused service to be a bit slow.

Went to try their infamous roast duck during lunch and there were plenty of tables available. Ordered other dishes and they were pretty average. The roasted duck however was beyond our expectation. The skin was crispy and the meat was moist. The rice paper, side dishes and the salt&pepper carcass were above average. A dish worth trying was the fried taro rolls with black sesame seeds. It was less oily than expected, light and well prepared. Would go back and try their lamb dishes with an update to follow.

the average dish was average at best. it was fair flavour, a little bit smaller than expected portions.

but considering the price and supposedly their star dish, it was kinda disappointing.
i’ve had better at more affordable places. Perfect Chinese restaurant in scarborough comes to mind.
tea pot looked gross, struggled to pour ours.. servers dropped dishes off half hazardly tilted off another plate. They chose to use really large serving dishes but small tables.

been there, done that - prob won’t be back.

Dayali delivers an authentic Beijing roast duck experience rarely found outside China. The "three-way" serving method (skin with sugar, wrap with pancakes, and duck bone soup) is faithfully executed.

Among the newly introduced dishes, the Bamboo-Smoked Beef Stir-Fry stands out with its wok-charred exterior and bold, peppery undertone. The Sizzling Family-Style Platter, served on hot iron, offers a robust mix of seafood, tofu, and vegetables in a rich soy-based glaze — generous and comforting.

Dine-in is essential to appreciate the true quality of the duck. This is a restaurant that respects time-honored technique and offers a meal rich in both flavor and cultural context.

We made reservations for Sunday at 11:30am for a private room for 7 people to celebrate for a baby shower brunch. There’s a minimum spend of $350 and 16% gratuity.

We ordered the set menu of $299 and the server asked us to order more food when we we're still waiting for more of our other dishes to arrive. Food was really delicious and came out quick. Definitely would return for a special occasion but not reserve a private room to feel less pressure ordering so much food to meet the minimum spend
