I attended my husband’s coworker’s wedding at Auric King yesterday, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The moment we entered, the stunning ceiling and beautiful decorations immediately set the tone for a memorable evening. The staff warmly guided us to the right place, and their professionalism continued throughout the event.
The food was exceptional, portions were extremely generous, and every dish tasted fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. What impressed me the most was the staff’s attitude, they were incredibly attentive, always keeping an eye out and helping us divide each dish onto our plates, and their timing for each course was just perfect.
A big plus for me was how thoughtful they were. When they noticed we were getting full, they actually asked if we wanted to pack the food to take home instead of splitting it onto our plates unnecessarily. It’s a small detail, but it truly showed how considerate they were.
Honestly, this is the best wedding restaurant experience I’ve ever had. From the atmosphere to the food to the service, everything was beyond good. If anyone is looking for a wedding venue, I highly, truly recommend Auric King.
Pretty decent dim sum place. Food and flavour were average. Portion size for the char shi rice was very generous, but roasted duck noodle was less than expected. The deep fried dumpling was severely lacking filling though. Mango pudding was more jelly-like than pudding. If you're already at Markville and craving some dim sum, give them a try.
Their dim sum is good, price is reasonable. When I pay my bill, I am unaware that they already added the gratuity, the restaurant manager gave me back my extra tips. We are touched by his integrity.
The deep-fried eel fillet and roasted suckling pig are outstanding, rich in flavor and perfectly cooked. The BBQ pork, however, is just average in both taste and texture. While the lobster and Vancouver crab are fresh, other restaurants offer better preparation and seasoning.
Opened in December, the early reviews are confusing so here’s my best attempt to reconcile the mixed reviews. First, my dinner experience was superb. Crab with Ginger and Scallion and the Deep Fried Fresh Shun Hawk fish were fresh and expertly prepared, as good as you will find at any Cantonese seafood restaurant. The Chinese BBQ sucking pig was also excellent. The sautéed pea sprouts with dried scallops was also perfect complement to the seafood courses. Perhaps the shortcoming comes from many of the reviewers who came for dim sum lunch whose quality I cannot attest and would appear the Achilles heel here. Dinner seafood prices were reasonable for the quality. This may be a 3-star restaurant for dim sum but a 5-star restaurant for a meal. Service may be luck of the draw but we had a super attentive server and dinner shift manager who even comped us a soup because we had to wait a half-hour past our reservation for a table. Definitely will come back for dinner next time in town.
