Tucked away in a small shop in Langham Square, is a spot selling underrated Chinese frozen goods, and you can get it warmed up on the spot for you. Nothing beats the vibe of browsing in the mall while munching on a porky shaobing snack.
We visited this place cuz of a hangzhou friend’s recommendation twice. The owner was extremely friendly and enthusiastic - she knew a ton of things and the cooking details entailed in Hangzhou cuisine and gave us really good recommendations on the menu. But the food was pretty oily and portion wasn’t that great.
The 7 Best Food restaurant is owned by a very enthusiastic Chinese lady. She cooks great regional food (HangZhou cuisine). Upon entering, she offers 2 hot and steaming meat buns, followed by spicy tofu which is complimentary. This is followed by her specialty--duck soup with dry bamboo shoots and meat balls. This dish is very tasty. However, I found the food pricey. For $23.99, the soup has 2 meatballs, about 5 pieces of duck and a good quantity of bamboo shoots. It is a medium pot of soup barely enough for 2. The owner acts as both waitress and chef.
Based on the good reviews I went to the restaurant. It was tucked away in a small plaza with light decor.
My family originated from Hang Zhou so I’m really familiar with the cuisine. I’m sooo happy to say that I was not disappointed! The food was made without MSG and very properly done. The price was really cheap and the owner was super nice. Maybe because of the its location, there wasn’t that many people, but don’t let that fool you it’s definitely worth a try!!
