Pan fried bun cooked to order.
Good quality condiments. Hot sauce very good.
Bun is closer style to Shanghai, full of soup.
Would definitely return.
A relatively new store specialized in pan fried bao is located in the food court of King Square, well designed logo and video showing how the bao is made. We tried their signature pan fried bao and Xiao long bao. It took quite a long time to made (we waited about 10-15 mins), by the look of the bao, we had a good feeling of it. Pan fried bao is very like what we tasted in Shanghai, China. The soup bao also tastes yummy filled with soup, I specifically liked the skin. Overall, the taste is good, but it is overpriced, with $9.99 plus tax for 4 pan fried bao, most expensively one in GTA, considering the food court store. The service is very rather cold than warm. The food court has a lot of seatings, clean and spacious. It is new spot for authentic Shanghai style pan fried bao with little bit higher price than average.
Rent must be expensive at King Square because I've always noticed food here costs a bit more. $9.99+tax for 4 Pan fried dumplings is indeed a bit pricey at a good court (for reference, San Ji Bao on major throughway, Yonge Street, in expensive Willowdale is $9 for 4). They were really good though but could've been hotter. Service was pleasant.
I took a nibble of one bc I couldn't wait lol. I was expecting my mouth to burn but didn't ha.
I'd suggest 4 for $10 or 6 for $13. I would've bought the 6.
All dumplings are tasty! I have one comment on the soup. The soup base is good but the dried shrimps made the soup taste fishy. It can improve in the future!
Classic Pan-fried Pork Bun: These Pan fried dumplings are a masterclass in balance: a paper-thin wrapper crisped to a shattering golden lace on the bottom, yet tender and chewy on top. Inside, the filling is a juicy explosion of savory pork, and a hint of sesame oil that lingers deliciously.
Don’t Skip the Extras (Pork soup dumpling): A tender, savory mound of minced pork that melts into the broth like a savory symphony. Dip it in black vinegar with slivered ginger, and prepare for euphoria.
It’s truly THE most authentic Chinese pan fried buns and soup dumpling experience I ever had in Toronto! I would highly recommend try both! Whether you’re a dumpling devotee or a first-time fry fanatic, this place will have you plotting your next visit before you’ve even left.
