Caring, Patient, and Skilled — Dr. Diena’s Quick Action Saved My Hearing

I went to this walk-in clinic for sudden hearing loss and I am very grateful to have seen Dr. Zeev Diena. He was extremely polite, patient, and caring.

He performed the correct hearing tests, carefully explaining each step, and repeated the Weber test until I felt confident in my answers. That careful testing was the key to recognizing the urgency of my condition and ensuring I got the right referral.

He prescribed the correct medication immediately, and I have felt improvement every day — even before seeing an ENT or doing any additional tests. He also sent a timely referral to an ENT specialist, which was critical for my recovery.

Thanks to his thoroughness, professionalism, and compassion, I now have a real chance to regain my hearing. Dr. Diena is truly one of the best family doctors I have ever met, and I sincerely thank him for his excellent care.

Part of me would like to give a 0 and part of me would like to give a 4. Doctor met expectations except too many drugs were prescribed including an opioide, which may or may not be needed. However, the service was fast and felt like I got the medicine needed, but too many medicines, double check what they give you. Opioid=zero rating.

No frills here. Not all days are the best days to go to Nymark Medical Centre. Some mornings, if you go too late, the lineup outside is incredibly long. It is advisable to show up about half hour before opening. This way, when the office is open, you can go straight to the kiosk to sign in. Enter your health card number including the two letters, no spaces. Enter the reason for your visit and the receptionist will then tell you which room to wait inside before the doctor’s arrival.

Each person will be assigned a number through the kiosk. This will give you an idea on your wait time. Typically a little under 2 hours depending. The office waiting room is relatively small and a bit dated in appearance. There is also a Shoppers Drug Mart and Tim Hortons close by to pass time.

Not all days you may get the same good service. At times, the front staff are friendly, willing and helpful. Other times, not so much. Just keep smiling and keep your cool.

The attending doctor’s there are relatively patient. Each doctor has a specific day of the week they are in office. If you attend often enough you sort of get a feel of which days are better for you. Of course, some days you get what feels like 5 minutes and no concrete resolution. I’d say, wait a little while and go on another day.

I’ve been attending this clinic for years since it’s walking distance from my home. For me, I will make a special effort for one particular doctor as he’s that good. He listens, is not judgmental and generally has a good demeanour. Basically you have to try different days to see what’s best for you. That day might be your lucky day. If not, just buy a lotto ticket. You just never know.
