Alton Chinese Restaurant

I don't have anything to complain about. Food was excellent. Give you house soup, rice and dessert. Great takeout combos. Great value. Cash only. Helps if you speak/ read Chinese. Recommend Thousand Island Shrimp.

Visited this restaurant again today July 27 2025. Another good dinner. Added a couple more pics. Had dinner here on Jun 12 2025 around 6:30. Food tasted good and price is very good too at Toronto standard.

This place is not for everybody but I had a great first visit. You can tell that most of the customers are locals and know exactly what to order to get their money's worth. Lots of families but also couples eating here.

The dishes tasted amazing and authentic. I don't think there's a comparable Chinese restaurant out there that gets the flavour quite right like this. There was nothing super notable about each dish but there was just something that tasted right. The portions and price were not bad, but probably no where near what they used to be. The restaurant is no frills (plastic table cloths, plastic jugs for tea) so I expected a slightly lower price point.

Highly recommend the pigeon and sweet and sour shrimp (not pictured).

It is one of the popular restaurants in the area. The restaurant offers cheap prices and average quality of food, meaning it is good value. That's why local who lives in the area come here to eat. The best dish is the chicken, which is 4 stars. The other dish is 3 stars. For 9 people, we ordered 9 dishes. The portion is large, so 6 should be enough.

Felt like a local establishment where locals go. This is not where you go for fine dining. More like home cooking without any frills. Food was fine. Tea was trash :) $108 (tax included) for the 8 dishes (including the soup and rice). I have no plans to ever go back.
