Fascinating little place in Scarborough. Drove by months ago, been waiting for a chance to go and actually eat there. Not a big menu, but the 4 items we had were all very good. The Special Qorima was the best, hands down. The Uyghur Chicken was very tasty, but weird meat. Samsa were very good, but took a long time to make. Unfortunately our server was not Uyghur, so we couldn't ask the questions we wanted to ask. Anyway, great food, not cheap, but really tasty and unique.
We drove especially to Kroran to taste their food and was not disappointed! Having tried a few Uyghur restaurants in the city already, I can say Kroran flavors their dishes differently. The taste is bold (as many mentioned) and tasty. I didnt know what thst meant until I tasted it myself, and can say the mixture of spices was very tasty yet not overflavored at the same time. Service was great, and there was plenty of parking on weekday lunch. I highly recommend the Lamb Kebab and Nan Kawap. We ordered an extra dish for dinner as well.
You have to check them. This time it was my first time trying Uyghur cuisine and it was an unforgettable meal. The lamb soup was made fresh and has so much flavour. The lamb kabobs were incredibly tender and juicy. I enjoyed the lamb kabobs which were also made fresh. The service here is super friendly and people are very polite. I finished everything it was the perfect portion size for two people. An amazing Scarborough spot can’t wait to try again.
We had such an amazing time last night at Kroran! The service was amazing everyone was so kind and welcoming. We were treated and spoken to like family and the atmosphere was just perfect. Their menu is curated so well, every single dish we had was incredibly delicious. We could not stop raving about it! We had the:
MANTA- lamb dumplings- Perfectly Juicy & so well seasoned.
SAMSA- Lamb in a homemade thin bun that’s perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside
QURUQ QORIMA- Hand pulled noodles with beef stir fry- INSANE! The flavours were amazing
LAMB KAWAP- Lamb Skewers- just perfect (can’t believe I didn’t get a picture we ate it so fast)
Walnut Honey Cake- Not too sweet, very light, perfect after the full meal!
The portion sizes are great! We ate and had leftovers that could easily feed us both again! Make sure to order family style and share everything. I cannot wait to come back Kroran has blown my mind!
