Yee Hong Garden Terrace – Life Lease Housing
Yee Hong Garden Terrace (Scarborough) was built in 2004, the life lease housing community is intended for independent living seniors. The community, comprised of Phase 1 and Phase 2, is located at 90 & 100 Scottfield Drive (Intersection: Finch/Middlefield), which is adjacent to the Yee Hong Scarborough Finch Centre, comprised of two buildings with a total of 308 units.
Phase 3 is now in the works and will start the construction project soon.

My grandmother has lived here for several years and she has enjoyed the assisted living experience and cultural specific activities tailored to elderly Chinese seniors. Unfortunately, recently her unit was broken into. She had the gut feeling that something was wrong and returned to the unit only to see someone outside her door distracting her from re-entering. When she tried her key, it would not turn (I assume whoever was robbing her was holding the door shut and locked... and it would not be hard to overpower an elderly lady). Her cash and a watch were stolen.

You would think the management of this place would want to investigate to protect the other dozens/hundreds of seniors living in their building... but they told my elderly grandmother who speaks zero English to contact Toronto Police on her own.

Fortunately, my grandmother was not physically harmed and it wasn't a large sum of money stolen, but she was quite shaken by the experience.

If your loved ones live in this building, make sure they lock their doors and do not keep significant valuables inside.
